Series History
This is the 10th all-time meeting between USC Upstate and High Point dating back to the 1982 regular season. The Spartans and the Panthers are meeting for the second consecutive season in the First Round of the Big South Tournament. High Point holds the overall series record at 5-4, but Upstate is 1-0 in Big South Tournament games.
 
Earlier this season, the Spartans and the Panthers split the season series at High Point. The win on New Year's Eve gave the Spartans their first win of the season and jump started a three game winning streak. Everette Hammond led the offense with 18-points, while Tommy Bruner contributed 12-points in the win. Bryson Mozone recorded his second double-double of his career with an 11-point, 14-rebound effort against the Panthers.
 
Last season, the Spartans advanced in the Big South Tournament for the first time in program history with a 69-59 win over the Panthers. Everette Hammond led the way with 23-points and finished second on the team with 6-rebounds. Tommy Bruner added 12-points, Dalvin White scored 12-points off the bench and Nevin Zink hauled in a team high 10-rebounds in the victory.

Upstate – USC Upstate is led offensively by All-Big South Conference guard Tommy Bruner (Columbia, S.C.) who led the team with 13.6 points per game this season. Bruner also, led the team with 85 assists on the season and recorded 21 steals, while playing a team high 32.2. minutes per game. Big South Scholar Athlete of the Year Nevin Zink (Newtown, Conn.) is averaging 8.6 points per game and a team best 5.4 rebounds per game. Everette Hammond (Silver Spring, Md.) is second on the team with 12.6 points per game and Dalvin White (Norcross, Ga.) is averaging 9.4 points per contest. White is also shooting a team best .404 from three-point range, while Hammond is leading the team with a .811 free throw percentage.   
 
High Point – John-Michael Wright leads the team with 20.8 points per game, 67 assists, 32 steals and he averages a team high 33.3 minutes per game. Wright is second on the team with 100 rebounds on the season. Lydell Elmore is second on the team with 11.0 points per game and he leads the team with 138 rebounds and 18 blocks.

If the Spartans advance in the tournament they will travel to top seeded Winthrop on Monday evening.
