Ones to Watch
Upstate:
- Sawyer Worrell is set to get the start on the mound. He's tossed 7.0 innings with 11 strikeouts in two appearances so far this year. He was named Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week last week for his performance at College of Charleston when he fanned a career-high eight batters and earned his first career save.
- Noah Rabon batted .444 with five RBI, a double, a triple, and two sac hits against Radford this past weekend to help Upstate stay undefeated on the season. Three of those RBI came in a close 7-6 win in game one where he hit 3-for-4. He got the Spartans on the board early with an RBI double in the first before his RBI triple in the tied things up at 4 in the sixth, and his RBI single in the seventh evened things back up at 6.
- Devin Buckner went 2-for-4 at the plate with five RBI the series finale against Radford. With the Spartans down 1-0 in that game, he launched a no-doubter over the right center wall for a grand slam in the fifth inning. He added another run with an RBI single to the same spot in the seventh.
Clemson:
- Starting pitcher Caden Grice is a two-way player who is hitting .348 with four homeruns, and seven RBI in right games this season. He holds a .913 slugging percentage and .483 on-base percentage. On the mound, he's thrown two innings in one start with two strikeouts and a 9.00 ERA.
- James Parker has started all nine game for Clemson and leads the Tigers at the plate, batting .417 with three doubles, two homers, and seven RBI. He holds a .667 slugging percentage and .488 on-base percentage.
UP Next for the Spartans
The Spartans will travel to the Big South Preseason favorite Campbell University this weekend for a three-game series. First pitch for game one on Friday, March 12 is set for 4 p.m. with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.
