Series History
vs. Hampton: Meeting for the first time since 2019, Upstate and Hampton renew the series of team's connected in Big South membership with the seventh all-time match in the Spartans' Division I era Friday. The Spartans lead the all-time series with the Pirates 5-1, but Hampton did capture the previous meeting in four sets on November 15, 2019.
 
vs. Campbell: Having met each season since Upstate joined the Division I ranks in 2007 until 2010 and each season since 2018, former ASUN members and current Big South competitors USC Upstate and Campbell meet for the 13^th time Saturday. The Camels lead the all-time series 10-2 with Upstate's last victory coming in five sets on November 2, 2018.

Players to Watch
Upstate: Racking up 18 total blocks during Upstate's three-match homestand, including five or more blocks in each match, senior middle blocker Alexis Mareko enters the weekend as the Big South's leader in blocks per set, averaging 1.17 blocks per set. She enters the weekend with 111 career blocks, notching her 100^th career block against North Carolina A&T last Saturday.
 
Hampton: Middle blocker Margaret Daramola enters the weekend as Hampton's leader in both total blocks (38.0) and service aces (12) while tallying 50 kills using a .264 hitting percentage in 2021. During the opening weekend of Big South play, she posted two of her three best blocking performances of the season, collecting seven total blocks against Presbyterian and nine against Charleston Southern.
 
Campbell: The reigning Big South Libero of the Week, Claranne Fetcher leads the conference in total digs, scooping 228 balls this season while ranking second in digs per set with 4.47 per set. Through two matches in conference play, she's posted back-to-back matches with 16 or more digs and has four matches in 2021 with 20 or more digs.
 
Next UP for the Spartans
After hitting the road for the first time in Big South play, Upstate continues conference play at the G.B. Hodge Center with a pair of matches on October 8-9. The Spartans host Winthrop on October 8 at 6 p.m. ET before entertaining Gardner-Webb on October 9 at 2 p.m.
