Series History
Saturday's meeting between USC Upstate and Charleston Southern marks the ninth all-time meeting between the two programs in the Spartans' Division I era (2007-pres.). The Spartans and Buccaneers met in each of the Spartans' first two seasons at the Division I level (2007-08; 2008-09) before meeting six times in Big South competition, including twice in the Big South Tournament. Last season, the team's met just once, in the Big South Tournament, with Upstate extending its series winning streak to three games.

Players to Watch
Upstate: Scoring a game-high 23 points Wednesday afternoon at Longwood, redshirt sophomore guard Chellia Watson secured her third straight and fourth overall 20-plus points scoring game. She became the first Spartan since Brianna Lewis in 2019-20 to score 20 or more points in three consecutive games. On the season, Watson leads the Spartans in scoring, averaging 14.3 points per game, scoring in double-figures in 10 of her 15 games this year.
 
Charleston So.: Leading Charleston Southern in scoring against North Carolina A&T with 12 points, forward Alyssia Faye upped her scoring average to 8.6 points per game. She enters Saturday's contest as the Buccaneers' leading scorer while leading the team in rebounding at 6.0 rebounds per contest. On the season, she's secured six double-figure scoring efforts and two double-doubles.
 
UP Next for the Spartans
After wrapping up a two-game road stretch Saturday at Charleston Southern, Upstate opens up a two-game homestand Tuesday night at the G.B. Hodge Center. The Spartans host rival Gardner-Webb to open the homestand with tip-off set for 6 p.m. ET.
