FARMVILLE, VA. – Five matchups in five years and Upstate remains undefeated vs Longwood after Saturday's 2-0 win in Farmville.
It was a hard fought, physical bout as Longwood tried to find their first win against Upstate, but a total team effort highlighted by
Pablo Diaz's first and second career goals along with
Luca Bulfon's first shutout win of the season let the Spartans strut out with a win and 3 more points in Big South play.

How It Happened
1' – A shot wasn't the first stat in the box score. Instead it was an Upstate foul. The Spartans would finish the first half with only 3 fouls to Longwood's 12.
2' – The first shot of the match didn't come much later as Longwood's Mason Butcher blasted a shot right into the waiting arms of
Luca Bulfon. It would be the only save of the half for the Spartan keeper as Longwood wouldn't get an on target shot again until the 2
nd half.
20' – Upstate's first shot of the afternoon wouldn't come until nearly halfway through the 1
st half, as
Braiden Hall sniped a shot that was saved by Longwood's Alexandre Durand
40' – A relatively quiet first half was broken by
Pablo Diaz, who took a
Jeremy Montero pass and finished it off in the net. That was Diaz's first career goal.
45' – 72' – The second half was in a lull for the first nearly 30 minutes, with both teams trading shots but Upstate controlled the pace of play…
72' - …which culminated in yet another
Pablo Diaz goal. Diaz had an assist from Andrin Zumbuhl, but beat the keeper himself for his second of the night, putting the Spartans up 2-0
82' – 83' – The rest of the match was relatively quiet, except for two Longwood shots which
Luca Bulfon denied preserving the shutout.
