Series History
Wrapping up the team's non-conference slate, USC Upstate is meeting South Carolina State on the court for the ninth time in Upstate's Division I era (2007-pres). The Spartans lead the series 7-1 and have taken each of the last five meetings between the two clubs—the last three via sweep.

Players to Watch
Upstate: Helping solidify the Spartans' floor defense last week, helping the unit average 20.38 digs per set over two matches, sophomore right-side hitter Kate Idrogo has found a home in the back row for the Spartans. In both matches last week, she dug up double-digit balls, scooping up 10 versus Gardner-Webb before adding a career-high 19 balls—in three sets—versus UNC Asheville as she totaled 29 digs (5.80 per set).
 
South Carolina State: Leading her team in kills, points, and digs, junior outside hitter Semira Fields is a six-rotation standout for the Bulldogs. On the season, she's accrued 62 kills and 52 digs as she's posted a team-high 70.5 points on the season.
 
UP Next for the Spartans
Following the conclusion of the team's non-conference slate Monday, Upstate returns to action Friday and Saturday with a Big South Conference doubleheader. The Spartans travel to Charleston Friday for a meeting with Charleston Southern before heading to Rock Hill, S.C. Saturday for a match versus Winthrop.
