Box Score ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Stepping outside of Big South Conference play for the final time this season, USC Upstate volleyball returns home with its second consecutive sweep, taking its match with South Carolina State in straight sets Monday by scores of 25-3, 25-13, 25-21.
 
Leading to the team's fourth sweep of the season, Upstate held the Bulldogs to a negative hitting percentage (-0.165), the second Spartan opponent this season to hit negative. The Spartans forced 28 South Carolina State errors, including collecting 5.0 total team blocks.
 
As a team, Upstate hit .210, collecting 25 kills on 62 total swings. Freshman outside hitter Isabella Raciunas led the Spartans with six total kills with junior outside hitter Zelasia Edwards finishing just behind with five kills as 10 Spartans finished the match with a kill.
 
Helping Upstate to a .210 team hitting efficiency, all three setters saw action in the match. Junior setter Emma McElveen led the Spartans with eight assists while freshman setter Savannah Page added seven and sophomore setter Kayla Spangler added four.
 
Defensively, the Spartans collected 33 balls led by sophomore libero Sami Allen who tallied a match-high nine digs. Eleven of the 18 Spartans to see the floor Monday registered a dig with four players digging four or more balls.
 
In service, Upstate recorded six aces with sophomore outside hitter Ashleigh Nicoll leading the way with three winners. Freshman middle blocker Ady O'Grady, McElveen, and Raciunas each added an ace for the Spartans.
 
UP Next for the Spartans
With the conclusion of non-conference action, the Spartans head on the road for the team's first two-game Big South road swing of the season. Upstate travels to Charleston Southern Friday night before wrapping the road trip at Winthrop Saturday.
