Women's Basketball Set to Open Big South Conference Slate at Home Against Charleston Southern

Series History 
USC Upstate and Charleston Southern have an extensive series history dating all the way back to 1979 when the Spartans first hosted the Bucs and won 70-50. Most recently the Spartans fell 55-53 in 2022 after three-consecutive wins over Charleston Southern. The Spartans lead the overall series 11-6, with a 6-2 record at home but trail 3-2 in conference play against the Bucs.

Players to Watch 
Upstate: Rebekah Gordon played her best game this season against Queens University, as she walked away with a career-high 21 points and a career-high 10 made free throws, as well as six rebounds and one steal. Gordon now leads the Spartans with 110 points with Isabella Geraci just behind her with 104 points on the season.  

Upstate has maintained a consistent line up the last four games with Isabella Geraci, Rebekah Gordon, Trinity Johnson, Jeni Levine, and AC Markham on the floor. Geraci and Markham are the only two Spartans to start all 11 contests so far for the Spartans.  

Charleston Southern: Kennedi Jackson earned her second double-double of the season after posting 12 points and 10 rebounds against Gardner-Webb on Thursday night. Catherine Alben also had an impressive game as she had her fourth game scoring double figures with 16 points. The Bucs tied their team high of 14 assists against the Runnin' Bulldogs as well.

Upstate stays at home to host the Highlanders of Radford University on Wednesday, January 4th at 7:00 p.m. in the G.B. Hodge Center before finishing the week in High Point, N.C. to play the Panthers of High Point on Saturday, January 7th at 2:00 p.m.
