CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Continuing a streak of consecutive weeks with a USC Upstate women's basketball player claiming Big South Freshman of the Week honors, Rachael Rose claimed her league-best seventh weekly honor of the season as the league announced its weekly awards Monday.
Â
The Scranton, Pa. native, averaged 15.3 points, 5.0 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game in leading Upstate to a 3-0 week, shooting 51.7 percent (15-of-29) from the field in the three games. She tallied 15 total assists to just four turnovers, posting a 3.75 assist-to-turnover ratio for the week.
Â
In a home-and-home doubleheader with Presbyterian, Rose was crucial in the two victories, scoring the final seven points, including free throws in the waning seconds, in game one before offering a career-high 29 points in game two. She passed out 11 total assists over the two games while adding four steals and six rebounds. She added four points and eight rebounds against UNC Asheville to close the week, adding another four assists against the Bulldogs.
Â
Teaming with fellow freshman Terah Harness, the duo has combined to win the last four Big South Freshman of the week honors for the Spartans with Rose taking home three of the awards in the stretch.
