BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Looking to even its series Saturday afternoon and avenge a Friday night loss, USC Upstate baseball's late rally fell short as Campbell outlasted Upstate in a 14-9 victory Saturday afternoon to capture the series.
For the second straight game, the Camels put runs on the board first with a three-spot in the home half of the first inning before adding a run in the first and eight in the fourth to hold a 12-1 advantage through the first six frames. Senior catcher
Devin Buckner put four runs on the board for the Spartans in the seventh with his second grand slam of the season—and third of his career—as Upstate tacked on a run in the eighth and three in the ninth, scoring eight runs in its final three at-bats.
Buckner concluded his day going 1-for-3 with the four RBI as he reached base four total times in the game, adding a walk and two hit-by-pitch to his homer. Redshirt junior shortstop
Troy Hamilton collected Upstate's lone multi-hit game while redshirt sophomore outfielder
Noah Rabon collected a multi-hit game with a two-run triple as a pinch-hitter in the ninth.
Reaching base three times behind a single and two walks, senior rightfielder
Noah Myers swiped a pair of bases, posting his fourth multi-theft game of the year and his second in the last three games. His stolen bases improve his season total to 17, establishing a new Division I era (2007-pres.) record for stolen bases in a season.

Scoring Summary
- B1: Opening the game's scoring, Campbell plated its first run with a sacrifice fly off the bat of Zach Neto, scoring Jarred Belbin who had advanced into scoring position off a two-base error on an errant pickoff attempt. Using a double to right and a jam-shot flare that fell just inside the rightfield line, the Camels added two additional tallies with RBI from Connor Denning and Drake Pierson.
- T3: After Troy Hamilton led off the third inning with a double, he came home to score as Noah Myers ripped a single into right as Hamilton motored in from second.
- B3: The Camels picked up the run surrendered in the top half of the inning as a Neto homer to left gave the hosts the run right back.
- B4: Taking advantage of five walks in the inning and four hits, including a three-run homer from Waldy Arias, Campbell scored eight runs in the fourth to build a 12-1 advantage that it'd hold until the seventh inning.
- T7: Loading the bases behind a hit-by-pitch, single, and a walk to open the inning, Upstate put forth a four-spot in the seventh as Devin Buckner blasted his third homer of the season and second grand slam with a shot down the leftfield line.
- B7: Getting one of the four runs surrendered in the top of the inning back, Campbell scored in the seventh as Lawson Harrill doubled down the leftfield line.
- T8: After a leadoff triple from Adam Grob, a hit-by-pitch to Buckner, and a walk to Noah Sullivan, Upstate scored once again with the bases loaded as Cameron MacIntosh worked a walk on a full-count offering to bring home Grob.
- B8: Singling into left, Arias collected another RBI as Ty Babin came into score from second.
- T9: Setting up the inning with back-to-back hits from Cole Caruso and Hamilton, pinch hitter Noah Rabon tripled into the left-center gap to clear the bases and bring in two runs. Rabon would come into score off an RBI groundout from Myers to round out the game's scoring.
