Seeking a Second Straight Comeback Win, Baseball's Attempt Falls Short Friday at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Coming off a comeback series-opening victory Thursday night, USC Upstate baseball attempted a second come-from-behind victory in game two, but unfortunately the Spartans' early deficit was too much to overcome as Ohio State evened the series with a 13-10 victory Friday afternoon.

The Buckeyes jumped out early with five runs in the first and four in the second to build a lead that would hold up throughout the game. The Spartans began chipping away with four runs in the third before adding four in the sixth and two in the seventh, outscoring the Buckeyes 10-4 over the game's final seven frames and trimming the deficit to three before the final outs.

Out of the bullpen, freshman right-hander Ben Roberts settled the Spartan pitching staff, throwing a career-long 3.2 innings while allowing just one hit and one run to finish the game on the mound. At the plate, the trio of senior first baseman Devin Buckner, senior rightfielder Noah Myers, and redshirt sophomore leftfielder Noah Rabon each collected their 21st multi-hit games of the year with Buckner and Rabon picking up their 15th and 18th multi-RBI games, respectively.
