Preaw Nontarux Earns Second Career Tournament Victory as Women's Golf Finishes Strong at the Sea Best Intercollegiate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – On the course for the first time this spring and riding a wave of momentum from the conclusion of the fall slate, USC Upstate women's golf kept the momentum rolling as the team carded its second-lowest 54-hole total of the season, third-lowest 36-hole total of the season, and claimed an individual medalist for the second time this year as play at the Sea Best Intercollegiate at San Jose wrapped Tuesday afternoon.
 
For the second time in her career and the second time in as many stroke play events this season, redshirt junior Preaw Nontarux claimed medalist honors, earning the honors with scores of 75-73-67-215. After sitting six over par following her first seven holes of the tournament, Nontarux closed the event strong, finishing eight-under par over the final 47 holes, including a tournament-low 67 over the final 18 holes.
 
In addition to being the lowest round of the Sea Best Intercollegiate, her round was one of five sub-70 rounds at the event and ties for the fourth-lowest round and round relative to par in program history. Her 54-hole total of 215 tied for the ninth-lowest total in program history and was Nontarux's second-lowest total of the season.
 
Joining Nontarux in the top-15 to make Upstate one of two teams in the event to feature three golfers in the top-15 of the leaderboard where redshirt senior Beem Pabsimma (73-73-70-216) and junior Suwarin Yord-in (75-76-73-224). Pabsimma joined Nontarux on the All-Tournament Team with her third-place finish while Yord-in tied for 12th behind her lowest 54-hole total of the season.
 
As a team, the Spartans closed the tournament strong, moving up three spots on the team leaderboard as they posted the second-lowest 18-hole team total of the event with a final round 291. The round ties for the 14th-lowest team round and 11th-lowest round relative to par in program history and sits as the team's third-lowest of the season.

Notable
  • Leading to her second-career medalist honors, Preaw Nontarux finished top 10 in the tournament field in four statistical categories. She led the field in Par-5 Scoring (4.67; -4), ranked fourth in Par-4 Scoring (4.03; +1), tied for sixth in birdies (eight), and tied for eighth in pars (37).
  • Contributing to her spot on the All-Tournament Team, Beem Pabsimma ranked top 10 in the event field in two statistical categories and the top 15 in a third. She led the tournament field in Par-4 Scoring (3.93; -2), ranked third in pars (40), and tied for 13th in birdies (seven).
  • Adding another top five statistical finish for the Spartans, Suwarin Yord-in tied for second in the tournament field in Par-5 Scoring (4.75; -3).
  • Carding one of five Eagles in the tournament on the Par-5, 481-yard 10th hole at San Jose Country Club, Nontarux notched the second eagle of the year for a Spartan and her third career eagle.
