SPARTANBURG, S.C. – As the start of the 2023-24 season commences tonight, viewership statistics for Big South Conference schools' ESPN+ broadcast packages were shared with conference members and USC Upstate-produced events remained some of the most watched across the league.
Â
In aggregate, USC Upstate produced 85 events for ESPN+ in 2022-23 attracting nearly 167,000 unique viewers who consumed over 4.5 million minutes of content – all are school records for events and viewership. On average, USC Upstate events attracted 1,961 unique viewers per event and the 27.4 minutes per visitor ranked fourth among league schools. This marks the third straight season where fans watched over 2.8 million minutes of USC Upstate-produced content. Â
Â
Three Upstate events in 2022-23 eclipsed over 8,000 viewers, led by over 17,000 unique viewers who tuned in to the March 8, 2023 baseball contest, the sixth most watched non-football regular season event in the conference this past year.
 Â
Broadcast production positions are available for USC Upstate students and freelancers in the area to be part of the Upstate Productions team, led by director of video services Brooks Leger. Upstate students have an opportunity to gain valuable live event production experience, shoot and edit creative content to add to their experience without ever leaving campus.
Â
In addition to a host of creative and social media content, Upstate Productions leads the production of ESPN+, as well as simulcasting events as part of the Ingles Game of the Week package for Nexstar Media (WYCW-TV in the Greenville-Spartanburg-Asheville DMA).Â
Â
Upstate Productions is slated to produce ESPN+ broadcasts for over 80 home events in 2023-24 featuring men's and women's soccer, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, softball and baseball games. This year's broadcast slate begins tonight, Thursday, August 24 for the men's soccer home opener from Spartanburg Regional Field at County University Soccer Stadium.
Â
Partners with USC Upstate Athletics have the opportunity to tap into this significant marketing opportunity as sponsorship and commercial inventory is available within each broadcast. For more information, contact Lenny Mathis at LDMathis@uscupstate.edu.
