SPARTANBURG, S.C. – As the season draws nearer and the program looks to build upon its successes from the past few seasons, USC Upstate men's and women's golf is excited to announce its fall schedule, a slate that balances familiarity with opportunity and a chance to preview the new home of the Big South Golf Championship.
Â
Both Spartan programs compete in five total events during the fall season, each playing in four unique tournaments before coming together for the final event of the fall, an opportunity to compete at Fripp Island Golf Resort and preview the 2024 home of the Big South Golf Championship. Of the nine total events between the two schedules, six events mark returns from last season's schedule, including four on the men's side and two on the women's side.
Â
The men's slate opens Sep. 11-13 with a return to the Sunshine State and the Allstate/Streamsong Invitational. The three-day event returns to the Streamsong Resort in Bowling Green, Fla.—one of the best new courses in Florida—for the second straight season. Later in the month of September, Upstate travels to the Yellowhammer State to compete at the Graeme McDowell Invitational (Sep. 24-26), another return event on the schedule. This season, the three-day event has a new home, moving to Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta, Ala.
Â
October sees the Spartans return to the Upstate for the first time, hosting, alongside the South Carolina Charities, Inc. (SCCI), the Carolina Cup for the third consecutive season on Oct. 8-10. The three-day event returns to Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, S.C. Wrapping up the month, Upstate remains in the Palmetto State, heading to the Lowcountry on Oct. 29-31 to compete at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate. A three-day event, the tournament tees off from the Daniel Island Club in Charleston, S.C.
Â
While the women's schedule also features familiarity, the slate opens with a pair of new events on the team's schedule. The season opens at the Elon Invitational on Sep. 18-19 as the two-day event tees off from Alamance Country Club in Burlington, N.C. The Spartans' next event takes place Oct. 2-3 as the program returns to the Eagle Invitational for the first time in three seasons with the event held at Rock Hill Country Club in Rock Hill, N.C.
Â
Closing out the remainder of October, the Spartans return to a pair of events that saw the program capture tournament championships last season. The first, is a return to Spartanburg, competing in the Terrier Intercollegiate at Carolina Country Club on Oct. 23-24. The second sees Upstate heading back to The Cliffs at Walnut Cove in Arden, N.C. for the French Broad Collegiate Invitational on Oct. 30-31.
Â
Both the men's and women's programs close their fall slates by hosting the Fripp Island Preview, a one-day event on Nov. 6 at the Fripp Island Resort in Fripp Island, S.C. The event allows both teams an opportunity to compete on the course for the first time during the 2023-24 season, a precursor to the Big South Golf Championship.
