SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Returning to action for the second time in the new season, USC Upstate women's basketball heads back to the Carolinas for a meeting of the Spartans, heading to the Triad for a matchup with UNC Greensboro. Saturday's meeting features a noon tip-off while marking the fourth straight season with a "Battle of the Spartans" on the books.

Players to Watch
USC Upstate: Behind eight points and six rebounds against No. 22 Kentucky, senior forward
AC Markham paced the Spartans in both scoring and rebounding in the season opener. She finished the night shooting 3-for-5 from the floor and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc as both shooting totals led Upstate while her three-point percentage ranks second in the Big South in the season's early going. Last season, she was one of two Spartans to start all 31 games, averaging 5.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.
UNC Greensboro: In a 60-point victory over North Greenville, two Spartans finished the night scoring 15 or more points as sophomore guard Makiah Asidanya and senior guard Jayde Gamble scored 18 and 17 points, respectively. Gamble recorded a double-double, adding 10 rebounds, while she was perfect from the field (5-of-5; 4-of-4 from three) and added three assists and three steals.
Up Next for the Spartans
Upstate continues its season-opening three-game road swing next Wednesday with a trip to South Carolina State. The Spartans and Bulldogs are set for a 6:30 p.m. ET tip-off in Orangeburg, S.C.
