AUBURN, ALA. - USC Upstate softball split its first day of the Jane B. Moore Memorial Tournament with a 4-0 shutout win over North Texas before falling 10-4 to #25 Auburn on Saturday night.
The Spartans began the Jane B. Moore Memorial Tournament with a 4-0 win over the University of North Texas on Saturday afternoon. Upstate got a jump on the Mean Green with four runs scored in the first. Sierra Maness made her eighth start of the season and threw five strikeouts across seven innings to earn her fourth win of the season. Taliyah Thomas, Celeste Delorenzo, Kailey Canupp, and Alanna Deal all scored one run respectively in Upstate's 4-0 win. Carson Shaw led the team in hits with three for her fifth multi-hit game of the season. Abby Polk led the team in RBI with two for her third multi-RBI game of the season.
Upstate finished the day against #25 ranked Auburn. After taking the lead in the second inning thanks to a grand slam from Denver Lauer, the Spartans fell 10-4 on Saturday night. The four-RBI homerun helped lead the ranked team until bottom of the third. Maddie Drerup made her seventh start of the season against the ranked Tigers and pitched 3.0 innings before getting relieved by Alyssa Kelly, who assumed the circle and pitched the remaining 3.0 innings.

The Spartans will finish the Jane B. Moore Memorial Tournament Saturday at 4:00 p.m. with a rematch against the hosting Auburn Tigers.
