Following Week Break, Baseball Returns to Big South Conference Action with Series at Presbyterian

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Beginning a stretch of alternating weekend series as Big South Conference play winds down, USC Upstate baseball hits the road for a three-game set against another league foe sitting in the upper echelon of the conference standings, travelling to Clinton, S.C. for a series against Presbyterian.

Players to Watch
USC Upstate: Hitting three home runs last week, redshirt sophomore utility player Noah Sullivan tied the program's Division I era (2007-pres.) mark for single-season home runs as his season total sits at a Big South-leading 15 long balls. He enters the weekend with a three-slash line of .339/.478/.726 as he leads the Spartans in the latter two categories while also driving home 46 runs this season. On the mound, he leads the league with eight victories, tied for the second-most wins by a starting pitcher in the NCAA this season.
 
Presbyterian: Opposing Sullivan in Friday's series opener, junior right-hander Daniel Eagen gets the ball for the Blue Hose sporting a league-leading 2.72 ERA. He enters the game with a 4-1 record and 80 strikeouts over 46.1 innings of work as he seeks a sixth consecutive outing working into the sixth inning. Through nine starts this season, he' struck out at least six batters in each start, three times exceeding 10 punchouts, including a season-high 14 against Radford on April 5.
 
Up Next for the Spartans
After not seeing a midweek contest this past week, Upstate picks its midweek schedule back up next week with a trip to Cullowhee, N.C. The Spartans face Western Carolina for the second time this season Wednesday, meeting the Catamounts for a 5 p.m. ET first pitch to close the season series.
