SPARTANBURG, S.C. – For the third time this season, USC Upstate baseball faces a new opponent as it heads north to the Old Line State for a meeting with Maryland in the program's penultimate midweek contest Wednesday evening. The meeting with the Terrapins is the latest first-time meeting between the Spartans and its opponent, following the team's contests versus Canisius and Tennessee Tech.

USC Upstate: Homering in all three games last weekend, redshirt senior first baseman
Grant Sherrod led the Spartans at the plate last week against Western Carolina and High Point, posting a .526/.550/1.105 three-slash line. He drove home six runs last week, upping his season total to 63, leading the Big South and ranking 18
th in the NCAA in the category. On the season, he's fashioned a .327 batting average while slugging 13 homers.
Maryland: Leading the Terrapins with a .379 batting average and 72 hits, junior infielder Eddie Hacopian ranks fourth and second, respectively, in the Big 10 in the categories. Oh his 72 hits, 19 have gone for extra bases, including 12 doubles and seven homers while driving home 44 runs and scoring 47. He also leads Maryland with 34 walks, crafting a .481 on-base percentage.
