Players to Watch

Upstate: The Spartans begin the season against the Lancers of USC Lancaster, looking to build on momentum from last year.  Upstate returns 25 players, three of which were key scorers. Both Adrian Panaite and Dzenan Cerimagic each come off a freshman season with three goals and two assists. Ezra Hoffman, another key scorer for the Spartans, finished the 2023 season totaling two goals and two assists. Cooper Jennings returns in goal for Upstate after racking up 79 saves last season. Elijah Jackson, Carson Hickok, and Anthony Cox all return to the backline for the Spartans. Jackson and Hickok each played over 1,000 minutes last season.

USC Lancaster: USC Lancaster will compete in their first contest of the season on Wednesday after finishing last season 12-9-2 overall and 10-3-2 in conference play. Wesley Mendoza, Sam Macy, and Zac Birch all return for the Lancers, each being key factors for offense. Losing starting goalkeeper Beckham Boomershine, Connor Allen returns for the Lancers who finished the season with a .750 save percentage.
 
UP Next for the Spartans

Upstate will remain home, hosting Queens University of Charlotte for the final exhibition match of the season. The Spartans will officially open the season with a road match at UNC Greensboro on August 22.
