Players to Watch
USC Upstate: Recording three double-doubles and recording no fewer than 38 assists or 10 digs in any match last weekend, freshman setter Kamyla Vega David brought home both Big South Setter of the Week and Big South Freshman of the Week honors this week. She passed out a league-high 122 assists (8.71 per set) last week, becoming the first Spartan to earn Setter of the Week accolades in the Division I era (2007-pres.). Vega David enters the Spartan Classic ranked second in the Big South in total assists, handing out 294 on the young season.
 
West Georgia: One of the top serving teams in the NCAA, ranking 10^th in total service aces with 79, West Georgia features three of the top-four servers in the league in regards to total aces. Sophomore setter Desha Van Veldhuizen ranks second in the ASUN with 17 winners in 2024, averaging 0.45 aces per set. She's recorded multiple service aces on six occasions this year, topping out at a season-best four versus Alabama A&M on Sep. 10.
 
Idaho: Accruing 60 kills with a .141 hitting percentage, junior outside hitter Madu Fontes represents the Vandals leading attacker entering the Spartan Classic. The Florida SouthWestern State transfer has recorded seven or more kills in six of her seven matches this season, reaching double-digits twice, including a season-high 14 versus Southern Utah on Sep. 6.

With its final non-conference tournament in the rear-view mirror, Upstate closes out its non-conference slate and continues its season-long homestand Tuesday evening, hosting South Carolina State. First serve between the Spartans and Bulldogs is set for 6 p.m. ET.
