Event Preview

The Spartans kicked off the 2024 season at the Covered Bridge Open last week in Boone, N.C. On the men's side three Spartans cracked a top 50 finish, with Sam Shimanskiy leading the charge with a time of 19:29.95 finish, good for 26th. Freshman Ian Kelbert had an exceptional performance in his first collegiate race, coming in 27th with a time of 19:29.99. For the women, Beth Ludwick set the tone with a 68th place finish with a time of 20:23.58. Sophomore Grace Glassmeyer finished behind Ludwick with a 20:24.70, good for a 70th place finish.

Last year's Eye Opener saw the men finish sixth out of 18 competing teams while the women finished 10th out of 17. Carter Sexton helped lead the men and cracked the top 50 with time of 26:31.7. In her first collegiate race, Jordan Thornton helped lead the women and finished with a time of 20:43.1
