CHARLESTON, S.C. – Getting back to work, competing for the second time Saturday as the CofC Classic came to a close for USC Upstate volleyball, the Spartans battled their way through the tournament finale against Yale before falling in straight sets by scores of 25-19, 25-15, 25-20.

How It Happened
After seeing no player reach double-figures in kills nor digs in its opening match Saturday at the CofC Classic—the first time for both occurrences this season—Upstate returned to its roots versus Yale, seeing a Spartan with double-figure kills, two with double-digit digs, and one with a double-double in the nightcap.
 
The leading attacker for the Spartans, graduate student outside hitter Allison Palmi collected 10 kills, reaching a double-digit kill count for the fifth time this season. She supplemented her kill total with 14 digs for her fourth double-double in 2024, doing so in four of her last five matches.
 
Finishing just behind Palmi on the Upstate offense, junior middle blocker Ady O'Grady and junior right-side hitter Savannah Page concluded with eight and seven terminations, respectively. O'Grady's total came as she fashioned a team-high .500 hitting efficiency, the second time she's hit greater than .500 in a match this year.
 
Upon seeing her streak of 16 matches with 10 or more digs snapped earlier in the day, senior libero Julia Gladhill sought to start a new streak, leading the Spartans and the match with 17 digs. For her efforts throughout the weekend, she brought home CofC Classic All-Tournament Team honors.
 
Up Next for the Spartans
Upon returning from the Lowcountry, the Spartans trek for the Queen City and the team's third pre-conference season tournament. Upstate faces the Queens Fall Classic and matches versus William & Mary, Queens, and Davidson from Sep. 13-14.
