CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Adding to the program's league-best collection of Big South Conference weekly awards, USC Upstate volleyball captured its 12
th and 13
th weekly awards of the season Monday afternoon.
Ady O'Grady and
Summer Kohler bring home Player and Freshman of the Week honors, respectively, combining for the Spartans' league-high fourth instance with multiple weekly award winners.
A native of Hilton Head Island, S.C., O'Grady proved to be the only league player to rank top-four in the conference in hitting efficiency, kills per set, and points per set last weekend, leading Upstate to another undefeated weekend. She averaged 3.56 kills and 4.28 points per set over two matches last week, doing so behind a .403 hitting percentage. Closing the weekend, O'Grady crafted a season-high .583 hitting efficiency (min. 12 kills) versus Gardner-Webb, turning in 15 kills in the win.
Kohler, a North Port, Fla. Native, led all league freshmen in kills and points per set, leading the Spartans in the category as she tied for the conference lead in kills with 33. She posted averages of 3.67 kills and 4.11 points per set, ranking third and fourth in the league in both categories, respectively, for the week. Kohler closed her week on a high note, collecting a career-high-tying 19 kills and marking a career-high 20.5 points versus Gardner-Webb.
