SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Returning from a two-game road swing and coming off a stretch of three of four games played against Power-Four competition, USC Upstate women's basketball is back inside the G.B. Hodge Center Monday evening, hosting South Carolina State for a 7 p.m. ET tilt. Meeting for the third straight year, the longest stretch of consecutive seasons meeting in the series since meeting in four straight seasons from 2016-17 to 2019-20, Upstate looks to improve its 9-2 advantage in the series.

Players to Watch
USC Upstate: Leading the Spartans in rebounding for the third time through four games, redshirt junior forward Vera Söderblom corralled five rebounds versus No. 20 Kentucky last Wednesday. She paces Upstate on the glass, averaging 5.3 rebounds per contest, including a season-high nine versus Erskine on Nov. 6. Offensively, Söderblom shoots a team-best 44.4 percent (8-of-18) from the field, averaging 4.8 points per game on the young season.
South Carolina State: One of four Bulldogs averaging double-figures in the scoring column this season, senior guard Mya Byrd heads the quartet at 14.7 points per game in 2025-26. She was one of three players scoring in double-figures against Georgia, dropping 12 points for her third straight double-figure scoring game. Byrd enters Monday's contest shooting 53.3 percent (16-of-30) from the floor, a total leading the MEAC, while shooting 41.2 percent (7-of-17) from beyond the arc.
Up Next for the Spartans
Heading back out on the road, USC Upstate treks back to the Bluegrass State for a pair of matchups at the team's lone multi-team event of the season. The Spartans face Marshall and Morehead State at the Morehead State MTE with tip-off times set for 12 p.m. ET next Friday against the Thundering Herd and 10 a.m. ET next Saturday versus the Eagles.
