Players to Watch

USC Upstate: Junior Guard, Tyler Smith provides a two-way style of being a pass first guard wanting to make the right play and is willing to pick up the opposing guard for 94 feet on the other end. Smith adds 5.8 points per game while shooting 78 percent from the charity stripe. Tyler Smith's most impressive stat is being ranked top 50 in the NCAA in two categories. Smith is ranked #7 in the NCAA in steals (15) while being the only Spartan with double-digit steals through five games. Smith is also ranked #16 in the NCAA, averaging 3.0 steals per game. As Tyler Smith continues to grow on the Division I level, his versatile style on the offensive end followed by hard-nosed defense looks to pose a threat on the Golden Eagles Wednesday night.

Tennessee Tech: Redshirt Senior Guard, Mekhi Cameron leads the Golden Eagles with 13.0 points per game through five games. Cameron has scored in double figures in four out of five games including his season high being a 17-point performance against Berea. Cameron is currently shooting 51 percent from the field along with 42 percent from beyond the arc and 71 percent from the charity stripe. Cameron has proved that he can be an efficient scorer already adding two games shooting over 60 percent (75 percent against Charlotte and 66 percent against Berea). The Spartans will look to contain Cameron as he will look to attack every level against Upstate.

Up next for the Spartans

Upstate Men's Basketball will continue play in the MTE Tournament traveling to the Carrollton, Georgia for a Friday night matchup at the University of West Georgia scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 P.M. Eastern Time.
