SPARTANBURG, S.C. – In what proves to be a week of firsts for the Spartans, USC Upstate baseball faces its first and only instance of a double midweek set against two separate foes as it meets Wofford (6:35 p.m. ET) and Charlotte (6 p.m.) Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. The midweek slate marks the second of three two-game sets during the week for Upstate.
 
Tuesday's game also marks an immense first for the Spartanburg community as the Spartans and Terriers meet in the first game played at Fifth Third Park, the newly constructed home of Spartanburg's newest Minor League Baseball franchise, the Hub City Spartanburgers. The game is the second of three meetings between the clubs with Upstate taking the first by an 8-5 margin on March 19 at Fluor Field at the West End.

Players to Watch
USC Upstate: Leading the Spartans at the plate last week with seven hits and a .500 batting average, redshirt junior outfielder Scott Campbell upped his team-leading batting average to .417, a total ranking second in the Big South and 32^nd in the NCAA. He enters Tuesday's game boasting a 13-game hitting streak, the Spartans' longest such streak of the 2025 campaign. During his hitting streak, he collected a career-high three hits and four RBI versus Wofford, cranking a go-ahead grand slam in the first meeting with the Terriers.
 
Wofford: Ranking third in the SoCon in both batting average and on-base percentage, junior infielder James Layman leads the Terriers at the plate, posting a .384 average and .488 on-base percentage. He leads all Wofford regulars and ranks second on the club in stolen bases, swiping 14 in 18 attempts on the year.
 
Charlotte: Entering the new week, junior catcher Cody Gunderson leads the 49ers in all three slash-line categories (.390/.528/.659) while ranking fourth, third, and first in the AAC in batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage, respectively. He's collected a team-high 32 hits on the season with 11 extra-base hits, including five doubles and five home runs while driving in 18 on the year.

Following its midweek non-conference detour, USC Upstate returns to Big South Conference play this weekend, heading to High Point for a three-game set. The Spartans and Panthers face off Friday at 6 p.m. ET, Saturday at 4 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m.
