USC Upstate will host tryouts for the 2025-26 Spartans Cheerleading squad on the weekend of August 23-24, 2025 inside the Great Room of the University Readiness Center (URC Great Room) on the USC Upstate campus (North Campus Blvd.).
Tryouts will begin at 5:00 pm on August 23rd to learn material and get to know the Upstate coaches and ask questions. The judged tryout performance date is the following day, August 24th at 10:00 am. Both sessions are
mandatory and will take place at the URC Great Room.
First,
please fill out this online interest form to provide more background in advance of tryouts.
Tryout Requirements:
- You must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 hours minimum) for the academic year(s) you intend to be on the team OR
- For incoming freshmen, you must commit to attend USC Upstate for the 2025-26 academic year. Please contact Enrollment Services for application information.
- Members are expected to maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA.
- Cheerleading experience is highly recommended.
- With your tryout, please bring the following: Complete the online Tryout Application (see form linked below), printed and signed Team Rules and Expectations Form (click here to download) and signed medical waiver form (click here to download)
Skill Requirements:
No minimum skill requirement to tryout, both men and women are welcome.
Tryouts will be evaluated on:
- Jumps
- Group or partner stunts
- Tumbling
- Cheer
- Collegiate Image
What to Wear and Tryout Requirements:
Athletic shorts (no spandex), Athletic fitting shirt-either Upstate branded or school colors (Green/White/Black), cheer shoes or tennis shoes, game day makeup, hair pulled back.
Nails must be cut to fingertip length and jewelry is prohibited.
Attendance Requirements:
**All participants must be present at the tryout, no virtual tryouts will be accepted.**
