DAVIDSON, N.C. – USC Upstate women's soccer remained on the road, taking on the Davidson College Wildcats Sunday afternoon. The Spartans dropped the contest 3-0.
Upstate got off to a quick start, with sophomore forward
Riley O'Bryan taking the first shot of the game just three minutes in.
Paige Armstrong,
Kiley Johnson, and
Dara Russo were the other Spartans to take shots. Senior defender
Maddy DeCola aimed her shot on target.
Goalkeeper
Marley Gerber had one save and played 72 minutes.

How It Happened
1st Half: The Spartans claimed the first shot of the game just three minutes in. Davidson found the back of the net in the ninth minute of play, giving them the 1-0 advantage. Upstate responded quickly with another shot just minutes later, but the Wildcats proved to relentless on offense, scoring another goal before the halftime break.
2nd Half: The second half started evenly matched, with neither team getting a shot off until the 70-minute mark. Davidson scored their third goal off a free kick.
Dara Russo and
Maddy DeCola both had shots, with DeCola aiming hers on target.
Notable:
- Avery Heeb made her first appearance as a Spartan in today's match, playing a career high 17 minutes
- Kiley Johnson earned a new season high in minutes played with 60
- Morgan de Barros set a season high in minutes played with 32
- Marley Gerber faced a career-high eight shots
