COLUMBIA, S.C. – On the road, competing in the state capital against the flagship school of the state system for the first time, USC Upstate volleyball battled throughout the evening, making its opponent earn the final marker in each set victory. South Carolina, however, grabbed the first meeting between Spartans and Gamecocks Friday evening in three sets.

Improving the team's streak of matches with at least one attacker reaching double-digit kills, senior middle blocker
Ady O'Grady paced all Upstate hitters with 11 kills, fashioning her total behind a team-high .280 hitting efficiency. Chasing double-figures, freshman outside hitter
Summer Kohler and freshman middle blocker
Kensley Haneline chipped in eight and seven kills, respectively.

Sophia Overholt extended her stretch of matches with 10 or more digs to seven, leading Upstate with 10 on the night. Sophomore setter
Kamyla Vega David ended the night just behind her on the box score, plucking seven balls to pair with her 24 assists.
At the net, Haneline and Kohler combined to collect two total blocks apiece while O'Grady and Vega David each earned a solo block apiece.
