DALLAS, Texas – Building upon his 2026 Preseason All-Big South selection and 2025 ABCA/Rawlings All-American, ABCA/Rawlings All-Region, and Dick Howser Trophy Semifinalist selections, USC Upstate baseball's Johnny Sweeney adds another accolade in his illustrious career, being named a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Second Team All-American.
 
Sweeney's selection as a Preseason NCBWA All-American marks the third Preseason All-American honoree for the Spartans in the Division I era (2007-pres.), joining Kevin Davis (Collegiate Baseball) in 2021 and Chad Sobotka (NCBWA) in 2013.
