Zac Harris joins USC Upstate as Director of Strength and Conditioning. Harris brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Spartans. He comes to Upstate from Grand Canyon University where he served as Associate Director of Sports Performance and was responsible for Women’s Basketball and Men’s and Women’s Tennis. Harris was heavily involved in the Women’s Basketball run to the WAC conference tournament and Tennis’ winning the WAC conference championship as well as an NCAA tournament berth.
 
Prior to GCU, Harris worked at Santa Clara University where he was Assistant Director and was responsible for Women’s Soccer and Men’s Baseball and worked under legendary Master Strength Coach Bob Medina. While at Santa Clara, he also worked with Men’s Basketball, Men’s Soccer, and Men’s and Women’s Water Polo. During his time at Santa Clara Harris was instrumental in the Women’s Soccer team’s runs to the Elite 8 and Sweet 16 during his two seasons. He also worked with national team members from six different countries. Additionally, he helped several players launch into their post-collegiate pro career in both soccer, baseball, and water polo. During his time at Santa Clara, Harris also played rugby for the San Jose Seahawks. Prior to Santa Clara, Harris worked for MLS team Real Salt Lake, where he also worked with USMNT members, Kyle Beckerman and Nick Rimando.
 
Harris started in the field of strength and conditioning at the University of Utah where he worked with Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Baseball, Nordic and Alpine Skiing, Track and Field, and Men’s Lacrosse.
 
Harris graduated from the University of Utah in 2015 with a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science and a minor in Nutrition, was a member of the Men’s Lacrosse team, and worked as a research assistant in the Eccles Institute of Human Genetics. While playing, he served as a two-year captain and had all-conference honors. Harris will complete his M.S. in Coach and Leadership in the fall of 2019.
 
Harris, his wife Anne, and their two children Davey and Cambria live in Spartanburg.
