SPARTANBURG, S.C. – USC Upstate surrendered two goals to North Florida, both off of the foot Kathryne Husted as the Ospreys claimed a 2-0 victory in Atlantic Sun Conference action Sunday at County University Soccer Stadium.

Upstate (2-12-1, 0-4-0 A-Sun) went on the attack first as Stefany Saura (Raleigh, N.C.) recorded the first shot of the match.  Saura's shot from the top of the box at the 1:22 mark was saved by North Florida keeper Rachel Beninati.

The Spartans had a pair of scoring chances in the seventh-minute but Courtney Mack's (St. Leonard, Md.) shot was blocked and Katrina Savoy's (Waldorf, Md.) shot from the top of the box sailed wide right.

The Ospreys (7-8-1, 3-3-0) were able to break the scoreless tie in the 12th-minute when Kathryne Husted scored what proved to be the game-winner.  Husted's shot from the top of the box hit the top of the left post and bounced in.

"Unfortunately we failed to play a full 90 minutes today," said head coach Renee Lopez.  "We were able to shut down Lauren Hopfensperger and Carolina Lencina, two of their all-conference players.  However, North Florida took advantage of our errors and Kathryne Husted was able to score twice today.

Upstate had a pair of chances to tie the game in the final five minutes of the half but the Spartans were unable to find the back of the net.  Alyssa Librizzi's (Raleigh, N.C.) shot sailed wide right while Michelle Calmeyn's (Elk Grove, Ill.) shot was denied by Beninati.

The Ospreys went ahead 2-0 when Husted scored her second goal of the match in the 66th-minute.  Husted scored after a failed clear by the Spartan back line.

North Florida out-shot Upstate, 20-12, and led the way in shots on-goal, 10-5.  The Ospreys also led the way in corner kicks (15-6).

Upstate's Sarah Plantz (Cartersville, Ga.) tallied eight saves in the match while North Florida's Beninati recorded five saves.

The Spartans return to action next weekend when they travel to the state of Florida to face Florida Gulf Coast (Friday) and Stetson (Sunday).
