Spartanburg, S.C. - The USC Upstate men's soccer team will hit the field after taking eight days off when it plays two games in Spartanburg this week, starting with Wednesday's rivalry game at Wofford and finishing the week off while hosting No. 22 Furman in the Spartans' third and fourth straight games against Southern Conference opponents.
Upstate will make the short drive to Wofford Wednesday night in a match that starts at 7:00 p.m. at Snyder Field. The Spartans return home for the first time in 16 days when it hosts Furman Friday night at 7:30 in the nightcap of a doubleheader with the women's team (Florida Gulf Coast, 5:30 p.m).
Upstate owns an 8-6-0 lead over Wofford in the all-time series which dates back to Sept. 15, 1980. Wofford claimed a 2-1 victory last year at County University Soccer Stadium and owns a 4-0-0 lead in the series since Upstate made the move to Division I in 2007. Still, the Spartans lead the series in goals, 40-17. Furman leads the all-time series with Upstate, 5-3-2, including a tough 2-1 victory in Greenville last year. Upstate is 0-2-1 against the Paladins since joining Division I in 2007.
