Johnson City, Tenn. – Molly Collinson netted a pair of goals and ETSU scored seven unanswered goals on its way to a 7-1 victory over USC Upstate Saturday evening in the Atlantic Sun Conference opener from Summers-Taylor Stadium.
Upstate (3-5-2, 0-1-0) struck first in the fifth minute when sophomore Haley Gethin picked up her team-leading second goal of the season. Freshman midfielder Mollie Waters registered her team-leading second assist on the play.
Collinson scored the equalizer in the 21st minute when she capitalized off a feed from Sarah Zadrazil. Minutes later, Zadrazil registered her fourth goal of the season and put the Buccaneers ahead 2-1 in the 33rd minute.
ETSU (5-4-1, 1-0-0) added its third goal of the game minutes before halftime following a penalty kick goal from Cecilia Re. The Buccaneers tacked on four more goals in the second half en route to the victory.
USC Upstate returns to the pitch Friday evening at 7 p.m. when the Spartans host Kennesaw State from County University Soccer Stadium.
