Spartanburg, S.C. – Anna Lail scored two goals and had one assist to lead Lipscomb to a 4-0 victory over the USC Upstate women's soccer team Friday night from County University Soccer Stadium.
Lail started the scoring in the 17th minute when she used a run to sneak behind the Spartan defense and capitalize off a pass from Jade Abarca. The Bisons added a second goal minutes before halftime on a goal from Elizabeth Ashwood in the 43rd minute.
Paige Miller netted her first goal of the season early in the second half to put Lipscomb up 3-0. Lail started the scoring opportunity with a pass near the Upstate back line that found the right foot of Miller for a goal near post.
Lail capped the scoring with her second goal of the night in the 54th minute on an assist from Natalie DuBoise.
Prior to kickoff, Upstate honored departing seniors Samantha Seelinger and Mary Stanton.
"This was a tough result for us on such a special night," USC Upstate head coach Abby Minihan said. "I know the girls really wanted to send the seniors out with a win, but their contributions to this program will always be remembered and we thank both Sam and Mary for all they have done."
Upstate returns to action Tuesday at 7 p.m. when the Spartans host Francis Marion in the final game of the season from County University Stadium.
