Florence, S.C. –
Rachel Baylor's goal in the 95th minute lifted the USC Upstate women's soccer team to a 1-0 overtime victory over the Francis Marion Patriots Tuesday evening in its final road game of the season at Hartzler Soccer Field.

Upstate improves to 3-12-2 overall while Francis Marion falls to 3-14-0 on the season.

Baylor netted her fourth goal of the season just five minutes into the first overtime period and tied her for the team-lead with Kate Winegarner. Winegarner and Nicki Krejci were credited with the assist on Baylor's goal as Winegarner picked up her third of the year to tie with Kenzie Major for the team-lead while Krejci collected her second.

Winegarner's cross into the box off a pass by Krejci slipped past one FMU defender and then by Patriot goalie Taylor O'Berry. Baylor bodied the ball four yards from the goal placing it into the net to give the Spartans their third victory of the season.

Baylor looked to give Upstate the victory late in the second half with two attempts within a minute span. The junior's header off a Spartan corner as the match entered the 78th minute made it past O'Berry but was denied by an FMU defender in front of the goal. Baylor's shot just 48 seconds later was saved by O'Berry.

The teams combined for just four shots in the first half with Upstate taking three and Francis Marion one.

Spartan goalies Ellen Bright and Brooke Bailey teamed up for the shutout as Bailey totaled three saves in the match. Bailey earned her second career victory in goal with both coming against the Patriots. Baylor attempted a team-high four shots for Upstate with three coming on-goal.

O'Berry grabbed five saves for Francis Marion and Kelly Anthony tallied three shots with one going on-goal.

The Spartans host Kennesaw State Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Upstate will recognize its nine seniors prior to the game.
