Jacksonville, Fla. –
Gordon Wild registered two goals and one assist, and Heiko Allmendinger added a goal, to lift the USC Upstate men's soccer team to a 3-1 road victory against the Jacksonville Dolphins Saturday evening at Southern Oak Stadium.

Upstate moves to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the A-Sun with the victory, while Jacksonville drops to 2-7-1 on the year and 0-2 in league play.

Wild increased his national goals scored lead to three over Temple's Jorge Gomez Sanchez and is now first in the nation in total points following the performance Saturday night. The freshman currently has 14 goals and 29 points on the season.

Wild didn't take long to give the Spartans the lead as he connected on his first goal of the evening in the 2nd minute of play. He intercepted a Dolphin pass and managed to beat JU goalie Marc Meny one-on-one in the box.

Jacksonville responded just over a minute later to even the match at 1-1 on Griffin Kelly's goal in the 3rd minute. The Dolphins were awarded a corner kick and Kelly's header off the corner from Martin Agredo beat Upstate goalkeeper Hassan Haddad to tie the score.

Wild was involved in Upstate's next goal to give it the lead back at 2-1 during the 53rd minute as his cross into the box made it to Allmendinger. Allmendinger followed with a header past Meny for his first goal of the season.

Wild sealed the victory for the Spartans in the 88th minute with his second goal of the match, increasing their lead to 3-1. The forward scored off a one-on-one opportunity and now has five multi-goal matches this season.

Haddad concluded the match with three saves for Upstate and Meny added two.

The Spartans are off until Friday, Oct. 16 when they travel to Boone, N.C. to face Appalachian State at 7 p.m. in non-conference play.
