Nashville, Tenn. – Alex Hickey and Emily Rogers scored one goal each to lift the Lipscomb Bisons to a 2-1 victory over the USC Upstate women's soccer team Saturday evening in A-Sun play at the Lipscomb Soccer Complex.

Upstate falls to 2-9-1 overall and 1-1 in the A-Sun, while Lipscomb improves its record to 7-2-4 on the season and 2-0 against league opponents.

Hickey put the Bisons on the scoreboard first in the 13th minute as her second goal of the season put Lipscomb in front 1-0 off the assist from Natalie DuBoise. The Bisons increased their lead to 2-0 just after halftime during the 46th minute on an unassisted goal from Emily Rogers for her first of the season.

The Spartans wasted little time responding by cutting their deficit to 2-1 just over four minutes later courtesy of Rachel Baylor. The junior connected on her third goal of the season in the 50th minute with Caroline Keener notching her first assist. Keener's pass over the Lipscomb defense led Baylor to a two-on-one opportunity and she capitalized by placing her shot past Bison goalkeeper Anna Buhigas.

Baylor led Upstate with two shot attempts in the match. Ellen Bright finished with six saves on the evening.

Hickey and Jade Abarca led Lipscomb with three shots apiece, while Buhigas added one save.

The Spartans continue their road trip next weekend with a pair of matches in the state of Florida beginning Friday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. against Florida Gulf Coast.
