Upstate Drops 2-0 Road Decision at Georgia State

Atlanta, Ga. – The Georgia State Panthers scored two first half goals on Sunday evening to claim a 2-0 non-conference victory over the USC Upstate men's soccer team at the GSU Soccer Complex.

Upstate falls to 0-2 overall while Georgia State improves to 2-0 on the season.

STATS OF THE MATCH

  • The Panthers held a 10-4 advantage over the Spartans in shots.
  • Upstate led 3-1 in corner kicks as well as 2-1 in saves.
  • Cam Philpot attempted a team-high two shots for the Spartans, while Sebastian Quinteros and Florian Langenegger took one apiece.
  • Max Hemmings led Georgia State offensively with two shots.
  • Santiago Restrepo concluded the match with two saves.
  • Panther goalkeeper Yannic Horn grabbed one save.

GEORGIA STATE GOALS

  • Hemmings gave Georgia State an early 1-0 lead just as the contest was finishing the 16th minute off an assist from Lukas Joyner. (USC Upstate 0, Georgia State 1)
  • The Panthers extended their lead to 2-0 in the 44th minute when a throw in by Liam Fitzsimmons reached the foot of Rashid Alarape, who scored past Restrepo. (USC Upstate 0, Georgia State 2)
