Spartanburg, S.C. – The Kennesaw State Owls scored a single run in the top of the third inning as the USC Upstate softball team fell in the series finale, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon from Cyrill Stadium.
USC Upstate drops to 19-7 on the season and 1-2 in conference play while Kennesaw State improves to 17-9 overall and 2-1 in the league.
Scoring Breakdown
- Top 3rd – The Owls put two runners on base when Olivia Tamewitz and Patricia Awald recorded back-to-back singles. Tamewitz later scored from second on a Spartan fielding error before Awald was thrown out at third base to end the inning.
Notables
- Abigail Green (6-4) earned the win throwing four innings and did now allow a run on three hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
- Christina Biggerstaff (8-4) suffered the loss throwing a complete game and gave up one run (none earned) on five hits, one walk and nine strikeouts.
- Alley Cutting (2) picked up the save on three scoreless innings of relief and registered five strikeouts.
- Karla Beasley and Brittany Case led USC Upstate offensively with two hits apiece.
- Beasley recorded her seventh multi-hit game this season and Case her sixth.
- Beasley has now reached base in all 26 games this season.
- Kristen Wright and Elisa Cecchetti both collected one hit.
- Tamewitz and Alexa Solorzano recorded two hits each for Kennesaw State while Tamewitz scored the game's only run.
