Greensboro, N.C. – North Carolina A&T scored six unanswered runs as the Aggies defeated USC Upstate 6-1 at War Memorial Stadium on Tuesday evening.
North Carolina A&T improves to 10-14 while USC Upstate drops to 13-12-1.
Scoring Breakdown
- Top 3rd – Toran Shahidi reached on a one-out single and advanced to second on a Charlie Carpenter base hit. After a Kyle Gensler single loaded the bases, Mason Stewart drew a walk as Shahidi scored for a 1-0 USC Upstate lead.
- Bottom 5th – Camden Williamson opened the inning with a walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and reached third on a Ryne Stanley single. Williamson tied the game on a bunt single by Forest Kimbrell. Two runs would score on a Justin Williams infield single, with the final run of the inning coming across on a single by AJ Hunt.
- Bottom 7th – The Aggies scored two runs on a Hunt double.
Notables
- Carpenter went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles.
- Shahidi, Gensler and Stewart each had a single.
- Hunt, Stanley and Kimbrell each finished 2-for-4 to lead the Aggies.
- USC Upstate left nine runners on base, including leaving the bases loaded in the fifth. North Carolina A&T left six runners on base.
- Ethan Chavis (1-2) earned the win, allowing one run on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts in 5.0 innings.
- Jacob Thiessen (1-4) took the loss as he surrendered four runs, three earned, on three hits with two walks and four strikeouts in 4.1 innings.
