Raleigh, N.C. – The N.C. State Wolfpack scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth and earned a 2-1 non-conference victory over the USC Upstate softball team on Tuesday evening from Dail Softball Stadium.

USC Upstate falls to 21-11 on the season while N.C. State improves to 19-13 overall.

Scoring Breakdown

  • Top 1st – Karla Beasley gave the Spartans an early 1-0 lead with two outs after hitting her team-leading ninth home run of the season to center field.
  • Bottom 6th – The Wolfpack came back and took a 2-1 advantage after both runs scored on a two-RBI double to center field by Alyssa Compton.

Notables

  • Devin Wallace (11-6) picked up the win throwing seven innings and gave up one run on two hits, three walks and seven strikeouts.
  • Christina Biggerstaff (9-7) took the loss allowing two runs on four hits, one walk and eight strikeouts in six innings of work.
  • Beasley hit the 38th home run of her career and is now eight away from tying Stacey Berrong (1996-99) for second place all-time at USC Upstate.
  • Beasley collected one hit, one RBI and one run scored to lead the Spartans offensively.
  • Kayla Hussey added one hit in two plate appearances.
  • Four different N.C. State batters recorded one hit apiece.
  • Compton drove in two runs while Jade Caraway and Haylee Kobziak scored one run each.
