SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate men's soccer team is looking to keep their winning momentum alive in a road contest against Radford tomorrow evening.
USC Upstate (3-8-0, 1-3-0 BSC) and Radford (3-7-2, 1-3-0 BSC) are meeting for the second time in the Division I era. Last season the Highlanders defeated the Spartans 3-1 at County University Soccer Stadium behind a pair of first half goals.
Solomon Constant scored in the 86
th minute of the contest to help the Spartans avoid the shutout against Radford. Constant led the Spartans offense with four shots and a pair of shots on goal.
The Spartans have played in six consecutive one goal games dating back to a 3-2 overtime loss to Mercer on September 24
th. USC Upstate is 2-6 this season in one-goal games and four of those losses came in overtime. USC Upstate's luck appears to be changing however as reigning Big South co-Freshman of the Week
Pascal Corvino scored the game-winning goal in the fourth minute against Longwood on Saturday night.
The win broke a two game losing skid for the Spartans and Corvino added to his team leading third goal on the season. If the Spartans are able to win tomorrow night it would be their first winning streak of the season.
Radford is currently coming off a 2-1 road win over UNC Asheville on Saturday afternoon. The Highlanders scored a pair of first half goals and held on in the second half when the Bulldogs scored in the 82
nd minute of the contest. Radford was outshot 14-12 in the contest but eight of those 12 shots were on frame for the Highlanders offense.
The win also snapped a two match losing streak for the Highlanders. Radford's offense is led by Octavio Ocampo and Pape Oumar Gueye who each have eight points on the season. Ocampo has three goals on the year and Gueye has six assists on the season.
The Spartans and the Highlanders will faceoff at 7 p.m. tomorrow night from Cupp Stadium. Live links for the game tomorrow night can be found on
