SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's soccer team has gone a bit of dry spell since a 2-1 win over Wofford on September 18; the Spartans will be looking for a bit of spark against Campbell tomorrow night at County University Soccer Stadium.
USC Upstate (2-5-3, 0-2-1 BSC) and Campbell (6-3-2, 2-1-1 BSC) are playing for the sixth time in the Division I era. The Camels are 5-0 all-time against the Spartans and have not allowed a Spartan goal since the 2009 season. This is just the third time the two teams have met at County University Soccer Stadium and it's the first meeting since the 2016 season. That year Campbell defeated USC Upstate 6-0 in front of the Spartan faithful.
The Spartans are currently coming off a tough road loss to Presbyterian College. The Blue Hose scored in the fifth minute of the contest and the 73
rd minute. Both goals were scored by Morgan Hutchison and the Spartans were outshot 13-9 in the match.
Emma Honis (Ocoee, Fla.) and
Montanna Hill (Mount Airy, Md.) are the go to options in the Spartans offense. Honis leads the team in goals (3) and total shots (24), while Hill leads the team in total assists (2).
Logan Pace (Belmont, N.C.) has started every game for the Spartans in goal this season. The sophomore goalkeeper has already recorded a pair of clean sheets on the season and has recorded 68 saves in the process.
Campbell is coming off a 3-2 home victory against Gardner-Webb on Wednesday evening. The win gives the Camels six on the season and two in Big South play. The last time the Camels were in the Palmetto State they tied with Winthrop 1-1.
Two offensive players to look out for on the Campbell roster is Katie Lockwood and Alexa Genas. Lockwood currently leads the team in goals (5) and points (11), while Genas leads the team in assists (3), shots (16) and shots on goal (10). Reaghan Duval has started 10 out of the 11 games in net for the Camels this season and has made 52 saves on the season.
