COLUMBIA, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's basketball team suffered a setback against the No. 5/6 South Carolina Gamecocks on Thursday evening inside Colonial Life Arena, 112-32.
Guards
Maya Timberlake (Norcross, Ga.) and Briana Lewis (Chicago, Ill.) led the Spartans with 7 points each. Lewis collected the majority of her points from the free throw line, while Timberlake led the team with three made field goals.
Sophomore
Kathryn Kirkwood (Milwaukee, Wisc.) led the team in rebounds with six on the night and senior
Breanna Jefferson (Lynchburg, Va.) led the team in assists with three.
South Carolina made 13 of their first 20 shots and never looked back as they ran out to sufficient lead over USC Upstate.
The Spartans will stay on the road next week as they travel to Athens, Ga., to take on the Georgia Bulldogs.
