McGuire Announces 2020 USC Upstate Baseball Schedule

SPARTANBURG, S.C.- USC Upstate head baseball coach Mike McGuire announced the 2020 schedule on Thursday morning.

"I am very excited about our 2020 schedule," McGuire said. "It should be very demanding and will definitely prepare us for Big South Conference play."

Fans will have the opportunity to see the Spartans play 32 times this season at Cleveland S. Harley Park located on the campus of USC Upstate. The Spartans will host LIU Brooklyn to open up the season on Valentine's Day weekend. Other weekend home series include Western Kentucky (Feb. 28 – March 1), UNC Asheville (March 20-22), Charleston Southern (April 9-11), Radford (April 17-19), Kennesaw State (May 2) and Longwood (May 8-10).

Once again USC Upstate and Wofford will be co-hosting a tournament the weekend of February 21. Teams that will be playing at this year's tournament include Brown, Manhattan, Monmouth and Presbyterian College. Â

USC Upstate will play in three different minor league baseball parks this season. USC Upstate will face-off against both Michigan State (March 4) and Furman (March 18) at Flour Field in Greenville, S.C. this season. Flour Field is home to the Class-A Greenville Drive a Boston Red Sox affiliate. The Spartans will make their first trip to SRP Park in North Augusta, S.C. to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks. SRP Park opened in 2018 and is home to the Class-A Augusta Green Jackets a San Francisco Giants affiliate. The third and final minor league park USC Upstate will visit is SEGRA Stadium home of the Fayetteville Woodpeckers a High-A affiliate of the Houston Astros. SEGRA Stadium is the current site of the Big South Tournament running from May 19-23.

Other marquee games to look out for will be the weekend of March 6-8 when Northwestern visits Harley Park and March 18 when USC Upstate travels to the University of Georgia.

The Spartans will also have home-and-home series against Furman, Wofford, The Citadel, Western Carolina and Davidson. The lone mid-week series for USC Upstate this season will be against Jackson State (March 10 & 11).

Away series this season will include trips to High Point (March 13-15), Gardner-Webb (March 27-29), Campbell (April 3-5), Winthrop (April 24-26) and Presbyterian (May 14-16).
