RADFORD, Va. – Seeking a third series victory in Big South Conference play, USC Upstate baseball fell short of its goal Saturday, dropping the rubber match to Radford in a 10-5 decision at Sherman Carter Memorial Field.

Collecting his team-best 17^th multi-hit effort of the season, redshirt sophomore centerfield Henry Zenor paced the Spartans with three of the club's eight hits. He also drove home a run for Upstate, joined in the RBI column by redshirt freshman rightfielder Trey Bentley, redshirt sophomore shortstop Maloy Heaghney, and fifth-year senior designated hitter Johnny Sweeney.

Adding the Spartans' other extra-base hit—pairing with a Zenor double—Bentley hit Upstate's third opposite-field home run of the weekend, a solo shot for his third long ball of the year.

On the mound, junior right-handed pitcher Nathan Hook delivered a scoreless outing, striking out the lone batter he faced.

How It Happened

B2: Loading the bases, Radford capitalized to score three runs in the second. A walk pushed across the first tally before a two-run single to center from Hunter Keen plated the next two.
T3: Pulling itself within a run, Upstate hung two on the board in the third behind an RBI single from Henry Zenor and an RBI groundout from Johnny Sweeney.
B3: Taking advantage of a Spartan throwing error, the Highlanders answered Upstate's runs with two of their own. The first run crossed because of the error before an RBI groundout from Tyler Sparrer plated the second.
T4: Getting in a run down with runners on the corners, Jake Armsey avoided the tag long enough for Trey Bentley to race home and score.
T6: Drawing Upstate a run closer, Trey Bentley left the yard to the opposite field, hammering a solo shot to left.
B6: Behind five hits in the frame, Radford tacked on three runs using RBI singles from Keen and Breckin Nace (two RBI).
B7: Adding another run of insurance, an RBI double from Junho Son plated the ninth run for the Highlanders.
B8: Hanging its final run on the board, Radford pushed one across as Upstate turned a double play with runners on the corners.
T9: Tallying the final run of the afternoon, Maloy Heaghney pushed one across as he drew a walk with the bases loaded.

Closing the five-game road swing, Upstate concludes its season series with Western Carolina on April 7. The Spartans meet the Catamounts in Cullowhee, N.C. for a 5:00 p.m. ET first pitch.
