SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The USC Upstate volleyball team hosts the Limestone Saints in its home opener on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. from Eddie and Ann Payne Arena inside the G.B. Hodge Center.
USC Upstate (0-3) began its season last weekend dropping three games to Virginia Tech, Northwestern and Miami (OH) at the Miami Best Western Sycamore Inn Invitational. In the season opener versus Virginia Tech, McKenna Kirkpatrick recorded her eighth career match with 10 or more kills while Mikenzie Young-Mullins picked up her 16th career match with double-digit digs.
Emily Russell was named as the Spartans representative on the Miami Best Western Sycamore Inn Invitational All-Tournament Team.
Kirkpatrick leads USC Upstate this season with 24 kills and is hitting .159 overall. Young-Mullins has contributed a team-leading 27 digs this year and Scout Hoffmeier adds 56 assists.
Picked to finish sixth in the Conference Carolinas Preseason Poll, Limestone finished last season with a 12-13 overall record and 9-6 conference mark. The Saints are under the direction of ninth-year head coach Brandon Skweres.
The Spartans are facing Limestone for the 35th time in program history and leads the all-time series 27-7. USC Upstate defeated the Saints last season, 3-0, in Spartanburg.
