Spartanburg, S.C.— The USC Upstate Men's soccer team will travel to Conway, S.C. to face off against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers on Tuesday, October 1^st. 
 
USC Upstate (1-6) and Coastal Carolina (4-3-1) will face off for the second time in school history with the Chanticleers leading the all-time series (1-0). Last season the Chanticleers got the better of the Spartans as they defeated USC Upstate 5-1.  
 
The Spartans are coming off one a difficult loss to UNC Asheville, the Spartans dominated the stat sheet with 55% possession and 23 total shots compared to UNC Asheville's 5 but came up short in a 1-0 loss. 
 
Pascal Corvino and Pol Monells were super involved in the Spartan attack as Corvino had 6 total shots and Monells had 3 shots on goal. Unfortunately, none of these shots were able to hit the back of the net. 
 
On the defensive side of the ball, the Spartans played superb. The Spartans only allowed five total shots. This is the lowest amount of shots an opponent has had against the Spartans this season. Despite a strong showing from the Spartan defenders and Luca Bulfon, the Bulldogs were able to capitalize on one of their five opportunities that would ultimately lead to the 1-0 win for UNC Asheville.   
 
Despite having a difficult schedule with matches against the 21^st, 19^th, and 8^th ranked opponents in Division-1 soccer, Coastal Carolina still has a positive record of (4-3-1). The Chanticleers are coming off a 1-0 loss to No. 8 Kentucky despite having 7 total shots compared to Kentucky's 4.
 
The Chanticleers top goal scorer is Sam Snaith who has netted 4 goals for Coastal Carolina. In goal for the Coastal Carolina is Alberto Ciroi who has not stepped off of the field for the Chanticleers this season. Ciroi has totaled 22 saves and has a GAA of 1.43. The Chanticleers are coached by Shaun Docking in his 21^st season at Coastal Carolina.
