Series History
This is fifth all-time meeting between USC Upstate and High Point University. The overall series is tied at 2-2 but High Point won last season's meeting 71-54.
Malik Moore led the Spartans with 17-points and
Deion Holmes contributed 12-points in the loss. Neither side has been able to pick-up a road victory in the overall series.
Last time out
UPSTATE – USC Upstate is currently riding a two-game losing streak after facing the top-two preseason picks this past week. On Saturday afternoon four Spartans reached double-digits in the scoring column but it was not enough as Gardner-Webb won 83-67.
High Point – High Point is 4-14 overall this season and 1-4 in Big South Conference play. The Panthers are coming off a 79-60 loss to Charleston Southern on Saturday afternoon. A trio of players ended the game in double-figures for High Point, John-Michael Wright (14), Eric Coleman Jr. (13) and Emmanual Izunabor (12).
Ones to watch
UPSTATE – Freshman forward
Jatayveous Watson scored a career high 11-points on Saturday afternoon but it was not enough as the Spartans fell 83-67 to Gardner-Webb. The Peach State native also hauled in a career high 6-rebounds and tied his career high in blocked shots with two in the loss.
Freshman guard
Tommy Bruner has scored at least 10-points in five consecutive games and has achieved this feat in 9 of the past 10 games. Bruner is currently second on the team in scoring with 12.1 points per contest.
High Point – Wright leads the team in three different statistical categories, points (12.9), rebounds (89) and steals (18). Curtis Holland III is currently second on the team in points (12.7) and Caden Sanchez leds the team in blocks with 14.

UP next for the Spartans
USC Upstate will hit the road this Thursday as the travel to Winthrop on January 23, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.
The Spartans next home game will be against UNC Asheville on Saturday, January 25, 2020. Tip-off is slated for 4:00 p.m. inside the G.B. Hodge Center.
